Commercial Description:
VSA is an Extra Special golden ale that’s light in color but full-bodied, with a snappy hop finish. A bit of extra time in the conditioning tank rounds out and mellows the ale.

Sampled in Maine last summer. A nice brew that is worth a try. Has a nice golden hue and pours very nicely. Goes down smooth and has a nice flavor. A little bland but to be expected from a summer brew.

This summer ale pours a light yellow color with an average, white head. Body clarity is clear, with no carbonation. Fair lacing behind a fully-diminishing head. Aroma is simply of light doughy yeast. Initial taste is a light bitter, strengthening to a medium bitter finish that lasts and lasts. Light on the mouth, it feels watery and chalky with no carbonation.

Cold 12oz bottle: Pours a clear golden amber color with minimal ivory bubbles around edges. Aroma is of hops, grass and citrus notes. Fizzy on the tongue. Tastes moderately bitter with a hint of lemon.

12oz bottle. Best Enjoyed Before Date of Nov 06. Cavear: I drank this after a game of ball hockey, and just about any beer tastes good after that. Poors a light straw with quite a bit of carbonation. Little head and no lacing, but that could be due to my glassware. Light aroma of hops. Tastes to me more like an enjoyable well-balanced lager than an ale. I don’t own a lawnmower, so I will just have to label this as a good post-hockey beer. Nothing outstanding, but definitely enjoyable.

(12oz bottle, thanks wilkie) Sparkling apple juice body topped by small off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, herbal/grassy, light bread. Taste is medium sweet, grassy/herbal, light apricot, biscuit. Light body, some crispness. Quite drinkable.

This is a real nice simple summer ale! Perfect to grab a pint and sit out on the Gritty’s deck and watch the afternoon go by in Freeport. Nice and light for the summer so it can be enjoyed all afternoon and evening.

Decent session beer. I enjoyed this sitting on top of a building on the day of the WC 2006 final game. Light color, not too complex in flavor. Slightly hoppy.
