Grizzly Peak Draconus

Dark purple with a murky appearance. Sweet candy sugar all over this one, with some notes of plum juice and black cherries. Taste of ripe plum and super sweet candy sugar dominate, and it finishes with a bozzy, sweet harshness that shouldn’t exist for something that is 8.5% ABV. Not exactly put together well.

On tap at the brewpub. Warm honey and fruit aroma, giving the sense of a creamy blackberry cobbler. Pours a rather dense looking purplish brown, with a rim of off-white. Flavor is a singing hot plum sugar, bolstered by lots of fusels and way too much alcohol. Hot and full of bubblegum. Sweet and underattenuated. There’s a nice flavor in there, but it gets buried by the byproducts, sugar and alcohol. Kind of flat as well. Backs out with some Euro Hops.
