Sammy (3023), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 30, 2007 Amber coloured body with a bit of a white head. Quite hoppy and also quite malty. This malting makes it smooth and drinkable. And that is evident in aroma as well. An imperial ESB and I liked it better so than some double IPAs. Not to be missed if on tap.
CharlesDarwin (1376), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 21, 2006 Ruddy orange pour, with a clean white head. Silky. Light orange aroma, with a touch of lemon and perfume. Flavor is rich, sweet and complex, with some mind-boggling combo of hops that cacophonies into a merriment of jumbled fruitcakes and brandies. Candied ginger with sweet molasses and a hint of squid. One of the best balanced beers I’ve ever had. The alcohol in it is outstanding with a rounding and warming quality that brings in a sense of devotion and sippability. Rich lucious palate with a sense of creaminess. Like a good Thai coconut soup, with lemongrass, galangal and basil leaves. A real sipper and a real warmer, and extremely well played.
