Glouglouburp (2114), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 9, 2008 Updated: Jul 20, 2008In short: A spicy Saison with a nice barnyard undertone
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Almost clear golden copper body with a small off-white head
In long: Nose has a spiciness reminding me of some Chinese dishes with pepper, cloves, ginger and some other herbs. In mouth a dirty, dusty semi-wild character comes through providing a nice coutryside/barnyard flavour profile. Basic fruity notes but one is mainly about the wild offbeat yeast and spiciness. Carbonation is very lively, even by Belgian Ales standards. I liked the Farmer’s Daughter because I’m the type who like it wild and a bit dirty. Oh, and I liked this beer too. CharlesDarwin (1442), State College, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clouded deep orange, amber-tinted. A rim of white rides above. Aroma comes with a tang of dirty house yeast. Flavor brings some pepper thinness and a some yeast. Kind of bland really. Some pale sugars, yeast esters, light fruit and carbonation. Not offensive, but not exciting. An interestingly strong up glow brings up the backend. This isn’t heinous, it just isn’t that great. The house yeast is being dirty and affects the overall score of this beer. Dry, in the end. Styles (1654), Taylor, Michigan, USA Dec 26, 2007 7-22-06 MBG. Hazy copper with huge white head. Aroma is dominated by licorice, anise? not sure. Flavor follows in the same, all licorice, becomes overbearing. Palate/mouthfeel soft and billowy.
