TrefwoordPunk (363), Leiden, Netherlands Feb 13, 2008 Bottle 100 cl, bottled in ’99 and cellared for over 8 years. Pours a light, cloudy brown with a small white head and a great sweet caramellic aroma with hints of nuts and honey. The flavor is both caramellic and spicey but the mouthfeel is a bit thin. A nice spicey finish to round it up. Still nice after all those years! JorisPPattyn (4262), Antwerpen, Belgium Dec 7, 2003 (Obviously quite aged - one off) Amber-orange; foxy, creamy head, lacey. More fruity than spicey nose (sloeberry, apricot). Some spices at the end (ginger, coriander). Spicey-bitter taste, piquant even, but nothing over-the-top. Flavours much as from spiced liqueur. Surprisingly little oxidation. Medium bodied and light texture - maybe the only discernible effect of its age. Bitterish-spicey remains in the rather long aftertaste. Interesting beer. Resolutely spicey, but the necessary restraint has been observed. Well worth searching. bierkoning (4691), La Tropica, Netherlands Jun 2, 2003 Bottled in '99. A colleague gave me this bottle that had rested in his cupboard for over three years, because he only likes pilsener. Firm frothy head, red amber color. Cherry and mango aroma. Vinous, sweet flavor, a bit sherry-like. Cherry, rosebuds and grenadine. This beer has developed remarkably well. Still full of live and has gained aroma. stefan (7), welk?, Netherlands does not count Nov 19, 2002 Voor de echte!! jbrus (4095), Delft, Netherlands Oct 9, 2001 Sweet, spicy and heavy.
