JanR (2), Netherlands does not count Sep 7, 2006 Unbelievable that this beer has a score of 3.17 @ 5 points! It’s really a nice beer. Grolsch made a good weizenbeer. It looks great (with the Grolschweizen glass), and it tastes even better!
On warm summer day’s you can drink it all day (and sleep even better at night ;)). epassa (105), Sao Paulo, Brazil Jun 23, 2007 Golden color, hazy, big white head. Nose: Banana, yeast, apple. Palate: banana, malt, citric, yeast, sweet. Brammetje (2), Netherlands does not count Apr 30, 2006 roasty malt aroma, golden, hazy, white foam, heavy cloying sweetness, lightly bitter, full body, lively carbonation, DerWeg (450), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 7, 2008 Pours a very fine carbonation and pretty blond color, wafting aromas that taste follows. Mouthfeel is downright sexy and dead-on for the style.
Very fresh taste suggesting it has not been pasteurized. Do not care either way - it’s still like a good German Hefe right from the tap. I hope it stays this great & is not just an extra-good batch they spent more effort on to break the market, LOL!
THIS is why I drink hefe: light banana esters and a hint of clovey phenolics, some citric acidity to balance, and not a hint of anything bitter or funky on the finish. It just rolls away leaving a hint of bubblegum on the end, no junky sweetness.
A supreme pleasure and exactly what I hope for when I reach for a Weizen. Deutschland, pass auf! robinvboyer (1071), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jun 16, 2008 great hefe pour, lovely aroma of bananas, cloves, and some light bubblegum. Great flavour! the banana, and clove esters are perfect, amazing example of the style, who knew the dutch could make sucha great hefe.
