Brown sugar edges, almond, the fruits to a lesser degree, somewhat dry, finishing on a metallic date-sweet note. Mellow, light sparkly mouthfeel. Pleasant but not overwhelming. Creamy white head that was held for a while. Nice malty (to me) aroma. Slightly sour taste with a bitter finish. Good, but I’ve had better. EricE (464), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

Translucent, deep brown with a slim white head. Fruity, slightly rummy, malty aroma. Flavor is of dark fruit, plums, dark candy, grains, cheese and rather earthy. Texture is creamy and a little chewy. Cave aged? I guess, but it was alright no matter where it was aged. AlabastorJones (765), San Francisco, California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 17, 2008 The cork pops, and this much hyped beer pours into my Westmalle chalice a ruby, brown like color. It smells of yeast.
I was at first extremely dissapointed by this beer, but as it warmed from cellar to room temperature, I discovered a much fuller flavor. This beer has dark fruit flavors aplenty. The finish is quite dry.
I forgot to mention the wonderful head retention of this beer. I should also mention that I paid only $7.50 for this beer.
