Some lacing can be found on the glass. Aroma is yeast, malt/caramel, some roasted candies, maybe even some spicy notes as coriander. Also thought there was some soup like aroma blending in there. Slight watery texture could be observed in the beginning, but after reaching the correct temperature, the beer developed into a thicker mouth feel. Medium bodied. Flavour is light to medium bitter-sweet. Reasonably balanced beer. Tmoney99 (4794), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured hazy brown color with a large fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt and doughy aroma. Medium body with fizzy carbonation texture. Medium complex balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate dsuration. My expectations were met. KSS (102), Plymouth, Minnesota, USA

Fruity malty aroma. Poured clear brown with small off-white head. No discernable carbonation. Medium bodied ale that starts dry with light malt, fruity, spicy flavors. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Nov 8, 2006 Purchased 750 ML bottle at Perry’s Liquors- Livermore, CA. Poured into classic Trappist glass. Pours rich and dark rosewood color. Bouquet: woody, malty, I agree with the plums-figs-cherries- raw chocolate description. I’ll add licorice as well. Flavor profile: citrusy, almost minty (at the right serving temperature) finishes with figs, dates, chocloate malts. Aftertaste: nutmeg, baby! ogivlado (3095), Zagreb, Croatia

Aroma is malty, very fruity (plums, figs, cherries) and yeasty with notes of caramel and toffee. Slight spicy with nice acidic bitter finish. Very nice Abbey Dubbel. thornecb (1813), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2006 Pours deep amber into a trappist glass. Thick micro head does not recede -- very nice looking. Smoked orange peel aromas. Dry with upfront citrus and pit fruits with creamy lasting slightly bitter finish. wineandbrew (40), Steilacoom, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2006 Bought @ Steilacoom Wine and Brew. On tap, this beer pours more like a micro beer than a Belgian ale, with not much head that dissipates quickly. The aromas fall away with the head and I am left with a little maltiness, and maybe some licorice. On the tongue this beer shines, smooth, malty with just the right amount of carbonation... and somewhere in the background this beer has a little sour that hints, but never takes over the flavor. All in all a drinkable, but not outstanding brown with nice yeasty overtones but lacking in body and umph.
