Commercial Description:
Grottenbier Flemish Ale is a unique ale produced by one of the great Flanders breweries. Pale golden in color with a white, dense foam and a flavor that is soft, creamy and slightly herbal. Aging will reveal new layers of flavor, but Grottenbier Flemish Ale is eminently drinkable anytime! A unique Belgian classic from the mind of Pierre Celis.

Hazy golden pour with a nice white head that lasted for a while is what I got from this 750 ml bottle. Aromas of citrus and spice. Some slightly tart acidic smells that did not follow through to the flavor. The flavor was not sour at all. I had expected sour when I saw "Flemish". Dry, with more spice and citrus in the flavor. Some decent bitterness in the finish made it pretty good.

Thanks to hatchy for sharing this one during a brew session. Pours a hazy golden/orange with a large foamy white head. Aroma of slightly sour grapes, citrus, belgian spices and yeast, malty sweetness. Flavor of the same, kind of yeasty, citrus bite and nice mouthfeel.

The body is a hazy dark gold with lots of fast moving carbonation. The massive head is eggshell colored and making some popping noises. The aroma is very sweet and reminds of cherry flavored cough syrup. Fruit, with that medicinal quality behind it. There is also a strong herbal note, sage? The taste is strongly herbal with some sage and also black tea. There is some interesting stuff going on here. There is a little bit of apricot that comes out as you drink more. The mouthfeel is sharp and highly carbonated. This is an interesting beer, but not overly drinkable.

This one seems quite underrated to me. Pours coper / orange with an off-white head. The aroma has coriander, pepper, lightly sweet malt, caramel and creaminess. Medium crisp body with a decent amount of effervescent carbonation. The flavor starts spicy with some citrus, sharp earthy yeast and some nectar fruits. The finish has some grainy feel, even more spice, and an enjoyable sourness then a lingering fruity creaminess. A very enjoyable brew that is definitely worth checking out.

Good sized frothy white head of varying sized bubbles. Very good carbonation keeps a thin layer of foam on the surface. Yeasty and grassy aroma with plenty of lemon, and pepper. Color is a hazy medium orange. Fizzy mouthfeel. Light fruit and citrus. The grassy notes are more subdued than in the aroma with some yeast character and more spices. Crisp and clean palate. Slightly dry with a hint of tartness late swallow. Lingering dryness with spices and lemon. Nice alcohol warming. A prety good, clean, lighter blegian.

Pours an effervescent transparent golden with a frothy, nicely-lacing white head. Heavily coriander spiced aroma has a nice biscuity malty presence and some floral notes. Starts with decent malty mouthfeel and lots of lively carbonation toward a slightly sweet and bitter finish with coriander balance. An enjoyable Belgian ale.
