On tap at the Grumpy Troll Brew Pub. Poured a light to medium yellow color with a small sized white head. Aromas of grass, grains, and some corn. Tastes follow suit.

On tap at the Grumpy Troll brewpub. Pale yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of corn, sweet perfumey malts. Taste of corn and mild hops. Astringent, dry and too corny – crisp and not my style.

Tap Gold color and cloudy with almost no head.A strong smelling lager with a little hop. smooth to the palate.Nice crisp strong flavor for a lager with a hop finish. I’m not a big lager fan but this is 1 of 5 lagers that i will drink.

Pils malt and corn in the aroma = very clean. The flavor has a similar pale/ corn base but with a pleasant picy, grassy hopping. A well-done classic american pils.

On tap at the brewpub. The body with pale yellow with a white head. The smell is light glue with some grass. The taste was lots of Elmer’s glue with some cheap tobacco. There was also a hint of Saaz in the finish. This was poor, considering the rest of the line up.

Pale Lager rating #100. Yellow and clear. Crisp, fresh, lively flavors of grains and corn, lightly sweet, with more of a sour note in the finish. A good pre-prohibition style lager, easy to drink and refreshing and made without any glaring defects.

On draught as Captain Fred American Lager at the brewpub in Mt Horeb, Wisconsin. Pours a clear golden pale brew with a decent white head that slowly dissolves to a ring, though has good retention and lacing. Aroma of bready malt, some grassy ops with a touch of corn grits and green vegetable. Taste is light to medium bodied, well carbonated with a light and smooth biscuity malt flavor along with some flowery hops. Finish is semi-sweet with a good balance of malt and bitterness that turns into a crisp and clean cut flavor.

On tap at Grumpy Troll. Poured clear paler golden with a light cap of white head. The aroma picked up wheat and adjuncty sweetness along with light bready notes.. became almost unbearably sweet. Very sweet again in the flavor department with light fruits, dried floral notes, and some leftover yeast.. somewhat enjoyable, but too sweet. Lighter-bodied with a long, sweet finish.
