Grumpy Troll Ensign Fred

this is biled as a light beer and i think they hitthe mark on the style and thelight feel. the beer has a great taste and at 110 cals per glass it is an excellent counter to the more famous lite beers on the market. flavor is full and refreshing.

9/05/2009: Grumpy Troll Ensign Fred... Aroma: Sourish smell that is a little bit like Riesling wine. Appearance: Pale straw color; hazy; thin white head. Flavor: A bit nutty with a light grassy hoppiness; seems a bit off... Palate: Very light and not smooth at all. Overall: Um, I passed on having a second one...

On tap at the brewpub 7/31/09: Pours a transparent deep golden with a thin covering of white head. Aroma of dry grainy malt and some grassy hops. Has decent body and effervescent carbonation along with some bland grainy flavor and mild hop bitterness before a drier thinner finish. A pretty standard light beer, but not offensive.

Straw color with a wispy white head. Grains and herbal to grassy hops scents. Flavors are light and nearly overtaken by glass cleaner. Great, another micro light.

Hazy gold with a finger of white head that vanishes after a couple sips. Nice gumball aroma. Flavor built around an underlying husky, somewhat scuzzy light malt body, but made somewhat interesting by its lemon and gumball elements. Thin bodied.

On draught at the brewpub in downtown Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear golden straw brew with a fast dissolving white head that dissipates to a thin white ring. Aroma of golden grain malt, some light citrus zest, and a hint of apple. Taste is light bodied, some carbonation with a light golden grain malt and a hint of grassy hops. Finish is light, crisp with a clean cut aftertaste with no flavor. As light as they come.
