Copper body with a white head. The aroma was caramel with some light biscuits. The taste has some cherries and light bread crust. There were some hints of grapefruit rind. This was a great session style brew with a clean finish. I thought I got some plantains in the finish.

Light cystal aroma, hazy red-brown body. The flavor brings in a strong nuttiness and medium crystal specialty element. Very light balancing hop bitterness in the finish. This beer is all about caramel malts.

On tap at the Grumpy Troll brewpub. Hazy red with a thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel, fruit and mild smoke. Taste is more of the same with a mild bitter and astringent aftertaste.

11/16/2007: As its name implies, Grumpy Troll Erik the Red has a deep amber color. This beer is slightly caramely with a shot of cream. It is medium-bodied and smooth. This beer reminds me of an Irish-style Red Ale.

Sample (draught) at the Grumpy Troll Brewery, Restaurant and Pizzeria in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. Rating #14 for this beer.

Ruby red in color. Moderately sweet up front, then more husky, grainy, and even sour, with a bready/doughy, rye-like note over the middle, rough on the palate a little bit but overall it tastes fine.

On tap at the Grumpy Troll Brew Pub. Poured a medium amberish color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of caramel and a little fruity. Tastes follow suit. On the sweeter side.
