Draught at GABF 2008 as Grumpy Troll Summer Stout. Black coloured with a small beige head. Roasted aroma of caramel, chocolate and coffee with notes of hay. Roasted flavour of coffee, hay and dish washer. Roasted finish.

From the Jug at the GABF Colorado Convention Center, Denver 09/10/2008 (As Sumner Stout) Roast aroma. Black and smooth on the palate with some alcohol present. Crisp dry and slightly bitter burnt roast finish.

Dark mohagany color with a lasting light tan head. Sweet roasted malt and light coffee aromas. Light coffee and dark chocolate flavors with caramel/toffee undetones and finish. A touch thin, but quite flavorful.

Draught pint at the brewpub, mid-October 2006. Translucent, near-black body with a decent lasting frothy off-white head and nice thick lacing....milky chocolate at first in a nose that rapidly becomes roastier and sharper and hints of licorice which doesn’t materialize enough for real excitement....some nice roastiness throughout the body, fairly fruity (berries) and slightly tart, dark chocolate touches....body could be fuller but it’s really quite drinkable, definitely the best thing I had on this visit.

The body was very dark brown with a light ruby color when held ot light. The khaki head was fairly thin on top. The aroma had lots of chocolate with coffee and some sweet oatmeal. The taste was light with some mild coffee and a a little bitof roast. There was also some milk chocolate in the smooth and light body. A lame stout that they describe as dry on their menu.

Black color with slightly red edges. Aroma of burnt coffee. Very watery body. The coffee is still there with a slight chocolate wrap.

On tap at the Brewpub. Dark brown in color with a white head. Roasted and coffee-like aroma. Body is too light. Good lacing. Not an outstanding stout and slightly disappointing for this very good brewpub.

Dark Brown Coloring with Whisp of a White Ring. Chocolate and Coffee Roasts on the Nose. Very Light Mouthfeel...Certainly Not Robust with the Chocolate and Coffee Flavor but Still a Good Drinking Stout.
