Commercial Description:
Big, bold, and British! O.G. 1080, 100 IBU's, AbV 8.5%. She is amber/copper in color with a strong persistent head. An intense hop aroma is deliverd by copious amounts of English Styrian Gold and Kent Goldings hops. She is full bodied with a strong sweet malty toffee/caramel backbone that supports the 4.3 pounds of hops per barrel making her a very bitter, but delectible woman.

Gift from my Wisconsin hook up. Thanks Jamie. Very nice beer for my 900th rating. Nice hazy pour a definite aroma of hop(Not an explosion but it was present) I detected some grapfruit with a hoppy finish. Not bad. I rather enjoyed this.

22oz bottle. Amber color. Butterscotch, crotchy, smelling malt. Flavor of gag-reflex grossness. DUMP>

Beer #31 of 42 at GTMW, 8-8-09. Cloudy amber color, thin head. Nice IPA smell, light but it clearly advertises what this beer is. Taste is mostly fresh hops, not a lot of pine or citrus, just good hop spice. Surprised to find this is an Imperial IPA, the alcohol is very well disguised.

Tap at the brewpub. Copper pour with a white head. A little citrusy and a nice maltiness to balance it out. Very tasty and flavorful, much better than the 10 Lords, very good.

11/16/2007: Grumpty Troll Maggiee IIPA has a murky appearance, but that’s okay. The gragrant orange/grapefruit aroma and juicy orange flavor more than make up for it. Layer in a high amount of bitterness and medium-full body that is smooth and this becomes a pretty nice brew!

Sample (draught) at the Grumpy Troll Brewery, Restaurant and Pizzeria in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. Rating #42 for this beer.

On draft, and delicious. Clear red amber pour with a large beige head and glass coating lace. Floral to piney hops aroma, honey sweetness and alcohol. Flavor is a floral aromatic hop bomb, and delicious. Sweet malts and alcohol heat combine like crystallized ginger, and harmonize well with the hops. The hops bitterness outlives the aroma elements by a hair, and the finish is a bit overly bitter. Full creamy body with a nice hops bite on the palate.

CASK CONDITIONED - Similar to the regular version, but silkier. Has an aroma like a baby’s diaper, but the taste is considerably (and thankfully) better than the aroma may give as an impression. I prefer the non-cask version of this beer. REGULAR - On tap at the brewpub, pours a clear red color. Very smooth, taste is earthy but not dirt hops, some caramel, thick but not overly so. It’s a good beer, but I wouldn’t call it the brewer’s best selection.

Hmmmmm... When you’re working with 100+ IBUs you’re working with a need for some serious balance, however this one is one of those Double IPAs where the focus on the malt balancing the hops produces some pretty wild flavors. This is pretty sweet and fruity plenty of pineapple and citrus with some odd caramel sweetness and I swear some coconut, however it’s pretty hoppy too with a lot of nice bitterness. The aroma is very floral and nice. Pours a hazy blonde with a nice head, without much lace, plenty of pleasantries about the palate too, very rich and full.
