| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 7, 2009 Pours a dark brown, with fizzy light tan head. Malt, some roastiness, chocolate, and a hint of hops. Pretty standard, not very interesting. mikeben (344), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 6, 2009 Updated: Sep 11, 2009This is good, much better then the extra stout, but in no way does it come close to Guiness Draught. Basically this is just a typical stout with some of the nice Guinness flavor. The special consistancy is just not there. Still a good drink.. alobar (1020), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 6, 2009 Pours black with no head. Slightly tan on top. Aroma of roasted malts and some caramel. Thin body. Flavor of roasted malts, caramel, and some hops bitterness. Very thin and weak lacing. Quite average and somewhat disappointing for an anniversary stout. njmoons (58), New Jersey, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 4, 2009 Being a fan of Guinness Beers, I was expecting a lot for the 250th anniversary beer.
What I got was a boring ale. I had to reveiw and up my original scores to avoid grading to low for not meeting expectations.
I could go into the detail, but at it the core of my thoughts is that this is a very average english ale, nothing interesting, nothing I can’t get from a 100 other brewers.
Skip the 250, and have another Guinness Stout! RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 4, 2009 Black pour with a thick beige head. Malty nose, very Guinness-like. Flavor is sweeter than the original but kind of tart as well. Earthy with a dry roastiness underneath. Not bad. Listigovers (101), Ontario, Canada
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Sep 3, 2009 Aroma of cigarette butts. Pours like a normal Guinness, but a tad lighter. Monstrous head. Chocolate and butter, extremely smooth. These sound like good traits, but this is a bad beer. Up front taste of sour milk, yuck. Weak aftertaste of roasted malt. Disappointment. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 3, 2009 mostly black pour with medium lived beige head. Smell is malty and slightly sweet with a very traditional guinness smell. Taste is similar to guinness, but less creamy with c02 instead of nitro. kind of a dry roasty flavor along with a sweetness and light bitterness. Not too bad, I thought. Nicely drinkable. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 3, 2009 Great big foamy head, slow to fade. Dark brown cola colored. Very little aroma, some dark hops, perhaps I’ve got it a little to cold. Really thin with no dominant flavor; I’m used to stouts giving me a bit more but this is really odd. Some lingering bitterness. Nothing wrong with it, just a bit of a disappointment overall; I saw the big "250" label and expected something bigger.
