Being a slow day I decided to give this a try for the heck of it. It has been a long time since I last tried Guinness and maybe this is a reason to try it again. As it turns out my suspicions were correct. This is an average stout (at best); you are far better off with whatever local is available unless you end up somewhere where their idea of "exotic beers" are Corona and Heineken.

Aroma / Appearance - The deep brownish body was sufficiently dark to keep my interest. Along with it came a thick and rich eggshell head that released ash, inexpensive chocolate, and dark fruit. It’s about the same as regular Guinness which should come as no big surprise.

Flavor / Palate - Licorice, smoke, blackberries, and medium grade chocolate blend easily and lightly on the tongue. Sessionable as you would want it cruises down the throat with a clean slightly dry finish. Not in the same ballpark as many micro alternatives it may nonethless be one of the better mass produced options on the market. Still for $9.99 a sixer you can do much better elsewhere.

Pours black with a touch of red mixed in, it almost looks like cola. Aroma basically consists of a weak toasty malt. The first taste was rather metallic and not very impressive. Overall, its weak and disappointing. I would almost consider this a schwartzbier and not a stout.

11.2oz bottle–pours a foamy light brown head and black with red color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty. Taste is dark malt-roasty/peat, some earthy hops, slight licorice. Easy. Medium body. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for sharing.

Aroma is of fresh baked loaf of bread, cocoa, and a slight hint of stale Swiss cheese. Bitter dark fruit, yeasty flavor. Strong malt profile. Better than Guinness Draft, although not as high quality as I had hoped.

Not a bad beer at all. I was surprised. I thought it would be like a watered down draft. But its a beer all its own.

bottle. Easier than the original but @ the cost of complexity. Then again never been a fan of the stale/ "dry" palate of the o.g. Higher ABV too, what what!?

Happy birthday, old friend. Pours like a Guinness but with a darker head. Dark black with a cocoa aroma. Mild chocolatey mouth. First impression is that it tastes like a Draught crossed with an Extra Stout - but more on the Draught side. Mild roastiness and nuttiness. Caramel, surprising hoppy profile, and the signature roasted barley. Better than Draught with more flavor and backbone, but does not achieve the complexity and perfection, nor the texture and thickness of an Extra Stout.

Nice, nutty-toasty aroma, without the sourness that the stock Guinness has. Classy, tapered and embossed bottle with a well-designed label. Clear, super-dark brew, eternal tan head - earns its maximum appearance rating. Clean, really clean drinking. Not nearly as sour as the traditional production. Chickory, nuts, moderate acidity, nice after-bittering, some metal and astringency. Medium bodied, so it could serve as a session brew. Finishes out similarly to the flavor profile, but with some peanut and grassy flavors. Well done - not the best or the penultimate, but a good brew nonetheless.
