I agree that it is thinner and more carbonated, but it has a deeper coffee and hop taste than the regular Guinness. Meg O’Malleys. troopie (903), USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Bottle. Poured deep red black with thick white head. Much lacing. Very little aroma, a little malt, a little roast. Very thin flavour. a little coffee, a little roast. Over carbonated for a stout. Weak finish. Disappointing, one expects better from Guinness. | 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Most disappointing Guinness offering. I guess to celebrate 250 years, they decided to do something less good. Like a thinner, more carbonated version of Guinness. jcr (1184), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Bottle. Short tan head, most diminishing. Dark brown body, clear with ruby highlights. The light aroma presents notes of roasted and burnt malts, dark chocolate, coffee. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Light to moderate acidity. Finishing taste of ash and smoke. Medium body, watery texture and fizzy carbonation. Like a sweeter Guinness Extra Stout with more body. brewski519 (428), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is smoky, roasted malts, cocoa and oak. Taste is roasted, oak, caramel and coffee. A little thin on the mouthfeel as well as a little too much carbonation. Not a bad brew but I was hoping for something a little bit more. craftbeerdesign (765), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 26, 2009 bottle. pours a deep brown with a solid thick white head. some lingering roasted malt aromas... medium smooth body with some chocolate, coffee and big roasted malts coming through... nice soft finish with more roasted notes and some bigger chocolate notes at the end. I enjoyed this one better than the traditional Guinness... it seems to have a bit more depth and a bit more flavor overall. PorterPounder (3148), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Tallahassee, Fl. - Market Square Liquors - 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a very dark ruby red - fading to black with an ever present khaki colored head. Aroma of cold coffee and licorice. Flavor has some good bittersweet chocolate notes, a hint of kids cereal, hint of licorice and some coffee. Not bad at all. Good chalky mouthfeel. dchmela (1458), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Thanks to BConley for this. Pours black with a thick creamy off white head. Roasted grain, chocolate malt in the aroma. Taste is chocolate malt, roasted grains more carbonated than I thought it would be, yet not too bad taste wise. Slightly heavier than the original and not too bad.
