I mean after all these guys have to sell about 8 million cases of this thing so it is going to be pretty uneventful. The aroma and flavor are a little more full of malt and roastiness than the original. The finish is still really quick and leaves you without much to remember it by. I was disappointed. I have a six pack in my frig that I tried to finish over the last couple of weeks, but I ended up giving them all away.
Maybe the 500th anniversary will be better, can’t wait for that one.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 20, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours black-amber with tall light tan head. The aroma is unsurprisingly similar to regular Guinness Draught-- chocolate, roasty ash, some spicy earth notes; it is noticeably more spicy than the original, which I suppose is the result of the "triple hops." The flavor is ashy with some sweet caramel notes, walnut, earth, and some phenolic spiciness. The finish is a little bit bitter with a noticeable hop presence. It’s drinkable, but nothing special. rustychiles (1053), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 20, 2009 Pours a brownish black with a nice tan head. Aroma is roasted barley, coffee, chocolate, slightly nutty. Flavor is roast, chocolate, nuts, burnt malts. Thin bodied and not all that flavorful, I prefer the original over this. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 19, 2009 Bottle from Party World on Alpine, Grand Rapids, MI. Dark black almost opaque with medium tan head. Aroma is dry light roast with some chocolate and nuttiness. Flavor is light sweetness with chocolate, roast, slight coffee, all very light but well balanced. Medium to light body with light carbonation. Not bad, but I don’t see exactly what the difference is from the original recipe. ilovedarkbeer (1343), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 19, 2009 Pours a dark espresso bean color with a moderate sized tan colored head. There is a real lack of nose and flavor. What I do get is weak coffee grounds, and old chocolate, and earth. I don’t really taste the signature sourness. This was on tap and I was thoroughly unimpressed. Mouthfeel is slightly fizzy. I’d rather have the original. PilsnerPeter (2617), Flushing, New York, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | May 19, 2009 Bottle: Deep brown with a ruby hue and a tan film of head. Metallic/iron oxide aroma- some vague barley roast & mild chocolate notes. Thin/spritzy body- metallic flavor with notes of iron oxide, vegetal, papery malt and inky roast. Pretty bad.
