| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 18, 2009 Bottle from BeerGestapo, thanks Mike. Black pour topped by a mostly lasting khaki head. Smells of smoke, earth, & sour milk. Tastes almost exactly like Guinness Extra Stout. Slightly roasted with a touch of earth and a lightly sour finish. Thin body. Not terrible but certainly not the beer I would brew to celebrate being in business for 250 years. Codythegreat (141), Carrollton, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2009 I was told it was guinness in a different bottle. That was incorrect. Still a very good beer. Pours a jet black and has a malty and coffee flavor and aroma. Drank straight from the bottle. dwaggs2 (549), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 17, 2009 [Bottle] Pours dark brown with a big, rocky, khaki colored head. Aroma is deeply roasted, almost burnt, malt. Smells like burnt popcorn. Not bad, but that is it really. Taste is light chocolate, deeply roasted malt again, and just a touch of vanilla. Simple, but once again not awful. Pretty thin mouthfeel, quite smooth, with a below average length, fairly dry finish. Drinkable, and although not really that great, it was better than I had expected. garthicus (1289), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 17, 2009 With eternal thanks to HogTownHarry for picking this up for me. Okay, here goes.. I’m excited, my national beer.. Appearance: Pitch black, large frothy off white head. Aroma: Slight chocolate. mild hop, yeast with burnt malt, slight slight hint of coffee. Flavour: Initial impression - milky - burnt malt, slight coffee, however has a pretty weak body which is desirable in some brews but not this, woody, caramel, some peat, turf. Aside from the body, I quite like this. patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 17, 2009 draft at JK O’Donnells - Pours very dark brown with a lingering tan head though not much lacing. It has a chocolate roast malt aroma. It tastes of roast malt, chocolate, and coffee. As others have said, it is a lighter bodied brew than the extra stout. I kind of like it, but I still prefer the original. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA
