Pours a brownish black with a nice tan head. Aroma is roasted barley, coffee, chocolate, slightly nutty. Flavor is roast, chocolate, nuts, burnt malts. Thin bodied and not all that flavorful, I prefer the original over this.

Bottle from Party World on Alpine, Grand Rapids, MI. Dark black almost opaque with medium tan head. Aroma is dry light roast with some chocolate and nuttiness. Flavor is light sweetness with chocolate, roast, slight coffee, all very light but well balanced. Medium to light body with light carbonation. Not bad, but I don’t see exactly what the difference is from the original recipe.

Pours a dark espresso bean color with a moderate sized tan colored head. There is a real lack of nose and flavor. What I do get is weak coffee grounds, and old chocolate, and earth. I don’t really taste the signature sourness. This was on tap and I was thoroughly unimpressed. Mouthfeel is slightly fizzy. I’d rather have the original.

Bottle: Deep brown with a ruby hue and a tan film of head. Metallic/iron oxide aroma- some vague barley roast & mild chocolate notes. Thin/spritzy body- metallic flavor with notes of iron oxide, vegetal, papery malt and inky roast. Pretty bad.

Bottle from BeerGestapo, thanks Mike. Black pour topped by a mostly lasting khaki head. Smells of smoke, earth, & sour milk. Tastes almost exactly like Guinness Extra Stout. Slightly roasted with a touch of earth and a lightly sour finish. Thin body. Not terrible but certainly not the beer I would brew to celebrate being in business for 250 years.

I was told it was guinness in a different bottle. That was incorrect. Still a very good beer. Pours a jet black and has a malty and coffee flavor and aroma. Drank straight from the bottle.

Bottle. Poured a jet black with a two finger creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted malts and caramel. Flavor is burnt malts, coffee, and dark notes. Very rich and complex. A very good dark drinkable beer.
