I’m excited, my national beer.. Appearance: Pitch black, large frothy off white head. Aroma: Slight chocolate. mild hop, yeast with burnt malt, slight slight hint of coffee. Flavour: Initial impression - milky - burnt malt, slight coffee, however has a pretty weak body which is desirable in some brews but not this, woody, caramel, some peat, turf. Aside from the body, I quite like this. patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 17, 2009 draft at JK O’Donnells - Pours very dark brown with a lingering tan head though not much lacing. It has a chocolate roast malt aroma. It tastes of roast malt, chocolate, and coffee. As others have said, it is a lighter bodied brew than the extra stout. I kind of like it, but I still prefer the original. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 17, 2009 Had on tap at Claddagh Irish Pub. Poured a dark thin brown. Aroma was seriously almost non existant. VERY SLIGHT hint of coffee. Flavor was surprisingly thin and watery. Light roasted nuts, watered down coffee, slight bitterness. I called this Guinness Light for the rest of the night for its exactly what it tastes like. Guinness for Beginners. Not awful, just extreemly disappointing for an anniversary brew. And I have a soft spot for Guinness!!! scoth (289), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | May 17, 2009 Pours dark brown, black in the glass, with a one-finger tan head, good lacing. Aromas of chocolate, chicory, and bread. Medium bodied, crisp, and a little bit dry. Coffee and chocolate flavors, with some sharp citrus and a tiny bit of hay in the aftertaste. Long lasting medium bitter aftertaste. kosko20 (313), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 17, 2009 Take Guinness Draught and blend it with Guinness Extra Stout and out comes the 250...I mean seriously, thats what this brew tastes like. Its slightly better than the Draught only because...well, it doesn’t taste like ash completely. Also the draught is bog water mixed with chocolate syrup with a 50/50 ratio (go watch the Simpsons). morrdt (608), Jacksonville, Florida, USA

The aroma is malt with a bit of mild roasted quality, chocolate and some fruit. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate. A decent stout for an anniversary edition, but nothing too special to this.
