Nice lacing. Aroma is toasted caramel malt and herbal hops. Flavor is the same. Soft but thin mouthfeel. A bit of a let down. SledgeJr (2961), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2009 In the bottle from Whole Foods Omaha. Pours black with a large creamy beige head. The head has a long staying power. Mild roasted aroma. Looks and smells like a Guinness. The flavor might be a bit richer with a slightly thicker palate, but for the most part, it does not seem that novel. The finish has a much more bitter bite. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 13, 2009 Dark brown pour with off-white head and no cascade. Nose is roasty dark malt, mild chocolate, Tastes a bit watery, with dark malt, dark choc, and some figgy fruity notes late, but the complexity is lacking. This makes that old Arthur Guinness joke about "if you guys aren’t drinking beer then neither will I" seem like a cruel irony. 250 years for this? brewblackhole (1381), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2009 Aroma is dark malting.dark bakers chocolate on the light side, not much of the roasted barley, taste is nicely done bakers chocolate and a little roastedness ,bitterness still seems to be coming from the malt, carbonation almost harsh,by far no where near as friendly and comforting as regular. Nice light dark ale,but hardly the stellar brew a 250th anniversary brew should be daknole (2959), Plantation, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 13, 2009 Bottle from Total Wine. Pours almost black with a big tan head. Aroma is dusty and roasty as hell. Flavor is bubbly and its weird to taste a guinness flavor without the normal creaminess that we all have come to know with guiness. Flavor is roasty with a hint of molasses and maybe some bitter chocolate. Lots of lace left by this one. Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 13, 2009 Eh... what to say about this. Honestly, not as good as the regular version. The carbonation doesn’t really go well with the standard Guinness taste and makes it somewhat harsh. A bit thinner than the normal beer as well. MrBunn (1539), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 12, 2009 Bottle. Pour is a predictable dark brown with a little more of a bubbly head than I remember from the original. A bit of translucence lets some highlights shine through around the edges. Aromas are roasty and earthy. Flavor is thin with a little bit of a sour edge to it. From memory, I would say that this is thinner both in flavor and mouthfeel than Guinness... has a little more sourness and a little more scorched coffee than the original as well. Something doesn’t seem to work quite as well for me. lithy (1725), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 12, 2009 Dark dark brown with a thin off white foam, sticky sheet of lacing. Thin watery aroma, some roast evokes the typical nitro brew aroma. Taste is chocolate, slightly sour roast, a bit of pepper.
