| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 10, 2009 Bottle: Dark brown, blackish, light tan head and no lacing. The nose is lightly roasty with some acidic malts. Light and thin. The flavor is thin too, tastes undercarbonated and thin. Like guinness but only weaker. Creamy mouthfeel though. No better way to celebrate a monumental anniversary than with a mediocre beer. ljay6880 (160), , Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 10, 2009 12 oz bottle served in a clear pint glass. Pour was dark cola with 4 fingers of thick cream colored head. Nose is light roasted malts, light yeast, and light earth. Taste is somewhat bland, but much on par with the smell. Not much to say, I was a bit disappointed in this one actually. While not bad, just not up to par with many of the stouts I have tried. riversideAK (2779), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 9, 2009 Nose is of roasted barley and that’s pretty much it. Dark cola brown, thin tan head. Lightly roasted malts and some beer flavor. Not much in this for me. Sessionable. madquacker (724), Canberra ACT, Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 9, 2009 Dark dark brew with a nice solid foamy head. Everything you’d expect a Guiness to be. Dry and mollases with plenty of length and grip. Better than the widget variety. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 8, 2009 Bottle: Poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was roasted malts. The flavor was roasted dry malts and a tinge of hops. Overall, better than the original but still not great. WVHouseofBeer (390), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 6, 2009 Pours black with a good amount of light tan head, and a little bit of lacing. Pretty light bodied for a stout. Weak rosted malt aroma. Flavor is decent consisting of malt and milk chocolate, but not very strong. This is not one of Guinness’ best stouts, and I am very surprised they couldn’t come up with something better for their 250th anniversary. Wegro (223), Fresno, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 5, 2009 decent roast and nutty aroma, sort of lacto-milky too. pours kind of brown, not a terribly dark stout. decent head, lacking lacing. flavor is like the aroma, nice enough carbo. mouthfeel reminds me of newcastle....finish does too for some reason. not sitting well with me. even flavor, nothing stands out really. artificial tasting to this rater. better than the watery draught they try to pass off as a real stout, but thats about it. definitely not going to get a 6 pack of this. i figured it was worth a shot though. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 5, 2009 Pours dark out of a bottle with a nice head. Nose of roasted malt. Dry malt happy flavor. maybe a bit creamier than normal Guinness XXX stout from a bottle but not as creamy as Guinness draught bottle or on tap. Solid beer. Extra special? not so much.
