I do love watching the bubbles sink. Copper with a reddish, creamy head. Malts, nutty, caramel, and some hops. Flavor is roasted malts, caramel, some nutty notes, too. Light on the bitterness. Finishes smooth and refreshing. Creamy, full mouth. It’s not that bad, really. I could use a more pronounced flavor, but I could have a few of these and be pretty content.

Can at home. Reddish colour. Carbonated with fast-receding head. Bitter, definitely; with distinctive Guinness flavour. Nutty flavour. Quite smooth and surprisingly good for a canned beer.

Widgetised and foaming hypnotically like a mad wizard’s potion. Who needs a lava lamp? Eventually settles down into a squash-like chesnut stillness capped with a 2 inch thick collar of shaving foam. Aromas of nutty malt. So thick, faintly carbonated and negligibly hopped it’s a little like drinking caramel and hazelnut yoghurt. But not as tasty. An impressive entrance by a non-entity of a beer.

Dark golden with a nice, creamy head. The aroma is a bit neutral but has notes of caramel and hops. The flavour is smooth and mild with light notes of roasted malt, licorice and a nice bitterness, that isn’t overwhelmingly strong. A nice bitter found in Scotland 2004.

440 ml can, ’bbe’ March 07. Clear, darkened copper colour, ’floating widget’ head. Hoppy aroma with herbal touches. Fruity-bitterish taste; a hint of pears. Faint aftertaste, thin body.

Really strange beer. A bit tinny and canny, but still interesting. Reminded me of a smooth-flow cream ale.
