Bottle (with widget) pours a rich, robust black with hints of red when held up to the light. A creamy tan head settles on top like a soft blanket and coats an entire side of the glass as you drink. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and tobacco. Creamy mouthfeel with bitter flavor of roasted malts, a faint coffee aftertaste. Not as full flavored as most stouts, but still enjoyable. Always a good standby choice at bars with a limited import selection.

11.2oz bottle. Classic black color with a solid off-white head. Watery mouthfeel with no real carbonation. Malty, creamy, and rich while still remaining delicate. Some hop bitterness laced into the chocolaty roasted malt profile. Practically an institution, this is certainly a beer to respect and enjoy.

Before I really got into craft beers this was about all I ever drank and even now it’s nice to step back and have one. It’s like running into an old friend.

Head. Creamy white cloud; everlasting. The last sip will be a marshmallow of head. It has defined St. Patrick’s Day. This can be enjoyed anytime anywhere. A true landmark to beer. Great caramel malt!

I’ve never enjoyed this beer quite as much as others. It’s always tasted a little watery to me when compared to other stouts, especially Guinness’s own extra stout. It looks particularly fantastic from the can with the huge, foamy head and the deep black color. The pour is enjoyable. Smells alright as well. But the taste still tastes watery and lacks the thick, creamy feel that I look for in a good stout.

One of my all time favorites. There is no more beautiful sight at a bar than a correctly poured pint of Guinness. Strong flavor, Heavy aftertaste, definitely not a beginner’s beer.

Appearance: dark brown color with reddish tones. Medium head, some consistent, of ivory color and lasting. Foam with good adherence to the glass and with a nice “floating-look”. All helped for the nitrogen-widget. Aroma: to roasted malts with aromatic reminiscences of toasted-bread, mocha, chocolate, cream, milk and maybe vanilla. Flavor: roasted malty start, progress with reminiscences of bitter-chocolate, grain coffee (without sugar), toasted-bread and vanilla. Final with medium dryness from the roasted-grains and the hops. Palate: light body and watery/semi-creamy texture, this creamy sensation is some artificial from the nitrogen-widget. Remark: weak flavor, I highlight the appearance and some of the aroma.

Pours with a brown tint that eventually settles to an almost black colour, white creamy head, that stays the whole time you drink it. Strong bitter taste that lasts quite a while, I like it.
