Pours a very dark black color that takes some time to settle. Head is very dense, off white with solid foam. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, and a hint of brown sugar. Mouthfeel is creamy, then thick, then back to creamy. Taste is actually very smooth with some roasted malts strong initially then followed by a nice light hop taste. Great beer. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 20, 2009 Dark brown with a dark tan head that is creamy on top and foamy underneath. Good lacing. Earthy aroma with malt and some roasted coffee, and some doughy yeast aromas. Taste has metallic characteristics, very malty, with a slight bitterness in the finish and a roasted coffee-like aftertaste. Not nearly as smooth as the nitrogen infused Guinness, but still a great brew with a great history. BrianDorry55 (117), Spring Hill, Florida, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 7/20 | Feb 17, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours black with a thin beige head. What the hell? Aroma is like light beer...Didnt expect that. Flavor has a bit of woody/smokiness...but then fades to a nasty light beer flavor. Really light mouthfeel...Nasty aftertaste...not smooth. This stuff sucks. You get excited as it pours into the glass...After the first smell and sip...You realize its a wolf in sheeps clothing. MrPickles (114), Wisconsin, USA

Lighter smoother feel than most stouts and porters, creamy and satisfying. Poured a nice thick, creamy foam. The taste was very good. It starts out smooth and creamy and ends with a refreshing ahhh. homeslice (36), , California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 15, 2009 From a large bottle. Pours dirty black with a choco brown top. Smells of roasted malts, nuts, no choco common to other stouts. Tastes of roasted nuts, light smoke, light coffee conclusion. Light in texture. Not complex. Tolerable. jimmack34 (567), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

PS. don’t try to mix black and tans in a trappist glass
