Dry tasting with hints of chocolate and light hops. Not my favorite stout but a good choice. joebudzjoe (224), Connecticut, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 18, 2008 dry flaky aroma of chalk, chocolate, coffee, wood. much clearer than the draught. Delicious dry thin finish with nice hop aftertaste. Prefer maybe a little more smoother for my stouts. tarheels86 (745), Washington DC, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 15, 2008 Not so different from normal Guinness draught but the initial head is not as creamy or as long lasting. Lacing is almost absent as well. A little richer on the cocoa and chocolate notes and the alcohol content is still completely masked. Overall much lighter than Foreign Extra and slightly bolder than normal Guinness. If I had a choice though I would stick to normal Guinness on tap. ahnakel (10), , Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Aug 5, 2008 Guinness was my first beer a couple of years ago. It was rough at first. But after you get used to it you can appreciate the fullness and richness of this beer. Much lighter in taste than its reputation, you find yourself loving it again every time you have to "settle" for it. Ryan82SM (242), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 30, 2008 Best from the tap. Much better aroma that way. Pours dark, like motor oil, which is great. The flavor is of medium bitterness, but also has a bit of sweetness at times, especially when the head is still present. A good dark beer, but maybe too familiar to be appreciated anymore. daknole (2918), Plantation, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 27, 2008 I do prefer this over the regular, but not by much. Certainly more malt and more punch in the nose and on the tongue. Heavier and more coffee and chocolate flavors are certainly there. Cheers! Earlier Rating: 6/24/2008 Total Score: 4.1 I forgot to rate one of the beer kings? Yikes. Anyway there isn’t much to add except when given a choice of your typical 20 beers on tap I ALWAYS go for this one. Old faithful it is. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA
