Commercial Description:
Labatt's brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company. Editor's Note: It looks like Moosehead is also brewing Guinness. Bottles in the US are from there of late, but Canadian bottles are still showing Labatt. 04/23/06

I’m not a very big fan of the original Guinness, but I really liked this one. Much thicker, creamier palate than standard Guinness draft. Tastes fuller as well. Again, there are better stouts out there, but this one was pretty damn good.

A one-finger head topped a pitch-black body that smelled of molasses, cocoa and a somewhat unpleasant sour yeasty aroma. Solid molasses and roasted malt flavour that yields to a grainy dry finish. It sounds curmudgeonly, but I remember this beer being better even a few years ago.

Am I the only one who finds the aroma of this beer offensive? It tastes good enough though. If I had my choice, I would go for the regular Guinness. Its a good beer.

Bottle from Matt7215. Pours a black color, small head. Not much aroma but some roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt, with a thin texture overall a solid beer that reminded me of my days in England drinking guinness..... A gateway beer for young stouties!

12 oz bottle. Clear, very dark mahogony. Large fluffy tan head. Mild aroma of roast and chocolate malts . Dry roast and chocolate malt flavor with good hop bitterness. Some sour notes and a bit of astringency in the finish.

Pours black with brown creamy head. Wonderful, roasty aroma of coffee. Chocolate and coffee in the taste. Medium-bodied, slightly creamy mouth feel. Very mild carbonation. Finishes with a strong bitter bite. Basically, the more you drink it, the more you’ll love it. A godly beer, one of the best macros around.

Pours a opaque ebony. The head was more cream colored unlike guinness draught’s white head. The smell is espresso like with a strong malty aroma. The taste is slightly chocolatly with a vanilla/french roast bite. The finish was dry and harsh with a bitter hop aftertaste. Carbonation was a bit heavy. All in alltruely a fine mass produced stout.

A strong, very dark, full bodied beer with the classic Guinness cream colored, frothy head. A nice note of coffee flavor, and it has a noticeable bitterness to it.
