Dark black pour but the light comes through at the edges. Puffy tan head. Nice dark roasted malt nose but not much else. Cool and light on the tongue but with a nice body to it. Again solid roasted malts in the taste but not much else. Good and solid beer with a nice lingering finish but not much depth.

Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. (120408)

Bottle. Pours black with foam head. Smell of coffee with a hint of chocolate. Taste of the same. A quality beer.

One of the greatest beers ever, but can only be appreciated by a true beer drinker. I remember the first time I tasted this; it tasted like motor oil. Since then, I have learned to love it, and it is a well-earned treat!

A classic beer all around. Pours a deep black colour. The head is tan and offers a soft sweet mouthfeel. its sweet, thick, creamy rich, fruity with soft nutty and caramel flavors.

A masterpiece stout all around really, if you haven’t tried it- wake up and try it! Dark black colour, full tan head, heavy, moderately carbonated mouthfeel. Lots of flavor, smoke, soft vanilla, tofee and cream. great brew.

3/22/08 notes: bottle. Heavy roasted malts in the aroma, along with bread. Pours jet black. Body is medium to thick with a creamy roasted flavor and fairly prominent bitterness. Finishes similarly, with lingering bitterness. This is a solid brew.

After pouring a tan head formed, which lasted a minute or so. It tastes like chocolate, coffee, and slightly like dirt, but not in a bad way.

A decent stout. Not even close to the top of my list of favorite stouts though. Weak in depth and flavor for a stout. There are notes of coffee and a light smokiness with a slight bitter end.
