Good foam, could last a bit longer. No sweetness is the strength of this beer. Good coffee bite. Full and rich on the palate, but not a creamy as Draught. This is a classic, to which I compare all other bottled beers, often
unfavorably. topher40409 (36), gainesville, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2008 Pours a dark black with a small tight brown head that lasts for awhile. Heavy malt aroma with hints of roasted grain. Light to medium body. Tastes of sweet malt with a heavy sting of carbonation. Fades to a delicate roasted coffe flavor with hints of toffe and licorice , a lingering astringency of roasted grain on the sides of the tounge and a little on the roof of the mouth. Overall a very good mass produced stout. SirSlarty (68), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA

This tastes dark, dark and many of my friends have called it "liquid bread". The flavor is very acidic but not awfully bitter, but it really is bitter BE WARNED! Very drinkable if you ask me. Got to love this wonderful smooth flavor of a Guiness Extra Stout. IrishBoy (2710), Bakersfield, California, USA

Bottle from Country Club Liquors; Says brewed and bottled by Guinness Brewing, New Brunswick, Canada; Nose of roastiness, coffee, with light notes of licorice and vanilla; Hazy black with yellow brown edges and a medium beige head; flavor has roasty coffee, hop bitterness, and a molasses note; finish is a reallly hoppy bitterness. It’s dark brown with a red hue, and it’s lighter in color than the European variety. The head is huge and creamy. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, light coffee and licorice. The flavour is slightly burnt, with a nice, dry bitterness and a light sweetness and notes of licorice. Botnik (108), Carrollton, Texas, USA

Many great beers later, I love hops, I love roasted barley malt. Many brews beat the pants off this brew, but she’s still my first love. TheRoot (38), Brantford, Ontario, Canada

A lovely velvety mouth feel with just a hint of a bitter kick at the end to keep it grounded. A nice light snack.
