Pours with a largish, creamy, light brown head with some lacing. Full retention. Extra dark brown body. Taste is watery up front with burnt coffee out back with a bit of breadyness. Very dry. Too fizzy. epf33 (222), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

Burnt flavor with chocolate and coffee notes. Very creamy texture. I like it much better than the draught version. charlelos (14), SAN ANTONIO, Texas, USA

This brew has a more hoppier taste to it and has a slight after taste on the palate. Serve ice cold and be sure to pour in to a chilled pilsner glass. Has a wonderful taste. Goes down smooth and is pretty wonderful. Real creamy. Would buy again. after4ever (2736), Brier, Washington, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Feb 14, 2008 22. Pours black, but not inkily so, with a thin sudsy tan head. Sharp fusel and aluminum notes cut through an otherwise pleasant roasty and herbally hoppy nose. Medium body, a bit creamy. Harshly ashy with some roast on the mid-palate. Not much of a beer, especially not compared to the motherland version of the Extra Stout. Meh. Earlier Rating: 12/13/2006 Total Score: 3.1 12-oz. Thanks, whoever left this in the work fridge for over a week! Pours deep black with a thick, rocky light tan head. Smells roasty and, believe it or not, a tiny bit c-hoppy. This actually ends up being so thoroughly like beer in every way that you can’t believe the name you see on the label. Moderately aggressive attack; decently full body and a bit of carb, plus some rather assertive flavors. Roast, chocolate, a bit of coffee, some sour chalk. Noble/c-hop there at the finish. All subdued, not all positive, but not unlike many rather better stouts in several ways. It’s really a pleasant surprise how much better this beer is than the "Draught."
