Pours with a big beige head (like the one in the picture) The doesn’t stick around too long there is however a small lasting head that leaves a nice lace. Deep black color. Smells strongly of coffee, a little molasses, and roasty malt. Taste is similar, but in reverse a lot of roasty malt, a little molasses and some coffee. Taste has some nice balance sweet at the front with good bitter hoppy notes.

To me Guinness is perfect, what all other stouts strive to be. That wonderful malty coffee aroma, the dark brown almost black color, and that smooth taste that you almost have to smoke after... to me it’s perfect. A pint of Guinness and a glass of Jameson’s 18 year and to me life doesn’t get any better. blutt59 (2107), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 21, 2008 For my 150th rating, I wanted to do a special one. So I chose this old favorite, which I drank regularly and proudly for years. I will always have great respect for this beer, the first stout I ever had. They probably invented the stuff, or at least popularized it. I wish I could say it is one of the best stouts out there . . . but it is not. The label is a classic, I hope they never change that. The aroma is disappointing - a little metallic and cheesy. The taste is robust (stout?), well-bittered with leathery notes. Not sweet, and with a clean, hoppy finish. Certainly not bad, but not the best either. Will Guinness start doing a little more to maintain its hold on stout drinkers? Newbie (22), Denver, North Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 19, 2008 The aroma is coffee and malt. The appearance is dark black with a tan head. The taste is like a bitter coffee. Feels too watery on the palate. Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA

Pours almost black with a good head.
Smells really dark and chocolatey. Very nice.
Wow, this really tastes good for a very accessible beer. Nice and dark and full of roasted malts with a nice bitter dark chocolate aftertaste that I like a lot.
Liked this one a lot.
