Head is abundant and attractive with a slight deepening in hue where beer was poured. Head lasts and lasts. Aroma is chocolate, burnt candy and coffee, mild. Flavor is much the same, but not very sweet. Bitterness comes out and shines, with a deep, dark, satisfying taste I was surprised to find in a north american guinness. Palate was pretty blah, the only real disappointment here, watery and unrefined. I’ve heard ’guinness is the beer you eat with a fork’ yeah...right, so I better get a steak knife for my expedition then! molsonfan9000 (59), geneva, New York, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 23, 2007 Ho-hum. Pours dark brown with a short tan head. Sour aroma of malt, smoke, and cocoa. Bitter taste of roasted malt, earthy malt, metal, sour coffee, and a dry finish. If this is a representation of Guiness that one would find in Ireland, it is pathetically average. Earlier Rating: 9/28/2005 Total Score: 3.4 Dark as night with no head. Taste is very bitter in comparison to its weaker sibling. Minimal hops, but lots of smoke and malt. A decent beer that’s easy to come by. ElGaucho56 (390), USA

Pours a deep near opaque black w/ ruby undertones, not much for a head, slightly off white. Nose is nice, peaty and smoky, fruitier than draft guinness, faint hint of earthy hops. Palate is definitely somewhat lacking, a little thin, more smokiness, nothing too overwhelming in the bitterness, finishes slightly dry. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA
