| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2007 its a staple, the window to good beer, it is considered great until you get deeper into beer, I like, but compared to better stouts it gets sour, but usually you can find this everywhere, and when all else fails, at least you can get a Guinness. Tried again a few weeks ago and was amazed - like it way better than the draught bottles. Funknmilla (593), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 6, 2007 Bottle pours dark with a sustained head. The aroma is of roasted malt. The flavor is malty, better than the draft, and sweet. The palate is more rich than the nitro, but not anything of note. Overall, I was looking for a single bottle to bring home with dinner, and I picked this one. I’m sort of indifferent to it. It suits me. Earlier Rating: 10/2/2003 Total Score: 3.8 Sampled 1 pint 6 oz bottle at 63 degrees F. Pours a dark opaque color that appears to have deep amber to it as seen with very bright light behind. The head was quite significant, but was only an average looking head of bubbles, vs. the draught with the creamy looking head. The head diminished to minimal after several minutes with decent lacing. The aroma was chocolaty and coffee like. The flavor was better than the draught version, bit more character to it as is a bit more toasty (almost a touch smoky) and more bitter. The palate is more carbonated a just a little more thick. As with the draught version, I still find this beer to lack in flavor compared to the rich mouth feel. It tastes out of balance in this respect. matt7215 (965), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 5, 2007 341 ml bottle. pours black with red edges and a medium tan head. aromas of esspresso but subdued. flavours are a bit thin. its weird that they increased the alchohol and decreased the flavour. some bitterness in the finish. not a bad stout but not even close to the best.
