Commercial Description:
Labatt's brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company. Editor's Note: It looks like Moosehead is also brewing Guinness. Bottles in the US are from there of late, but Canadian bottles are still showing Labatt. 04/23/06

Good ol’ Guinness. Better than the regular. Nice frothy head, dark brown opaque head with a little red on the fringes. Flavor is malty roasted chocolate, smooth mouthfeel, a little fizzy. LIked it.

Been a few years since I’ve had one of these, so I figured I’d give it another go. Pours almost black with mahogany hints when held to light. Nose is more complex than basic Guinness, with a little more roasted chocolate and fruit sneaking through. Taste is not quite as bitter, but the finishing sourness is prevalent. Better than I remember.

12 oz bottle. Not too much difference than the canned Guinness with the widget. Still a great drinking beer, but if I have to make a choice I will stick with the canned version with the widget.

Pours a dark brown with a coffe like head. Very easy drinking, smooth and silky. A must for St. Patrick’s Day, or any day for that matter.

A muted version of the draught, with slightly stronger coffee flavors and more bitterness. Tastes better with the right food.

Black with good head. Drier and less complex than I had remembered, but still fairly well balanced by roasted malts. Good chocolate roasting with a drying souring finish. Not bad but I still prefer a nice Guinness on tap.

from a 1 pint bottle after work .. was very disappointed almost skunky aroma ..bitter after taste compared to the smoother draught.. stick with it from the tap not the bottle!

Man, I was surprised by this one. Guinness draught is a tad to dry for me. This one isn’t. It’s dryer than Samuel Smith’s Imperial Stout, but comparable to it.
