Commercial Description:
Labatt's brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company. Editor's Note: It looks like Moosehead is also brewing Guinness. Bottles in the US are from there of late, but Canadian bottles are still showing Labatt. 04/23/06

Definitely not as good as Guinness Draught...bottles and cans. This stout seems to lose some hop notes, and even a little complexity with the reduced carbonation. The full body does shine through on this style, however. Solid

This is an excellent brew, full flavored, malty, deep, and a nice hoppy finish. This beer, while not the best available, will not disappoint.

I personally do not like this beer. I bought a 6 pack...and opened one a few days later and thought I was drinking DIP SPIT. I thought a friend who dips spit in the beer a repackaged it to trick me.... But, I did get a bud of mine to funnel this beer as i funneled a jagerbomb.

Ahhh...black gold. Pours cascading dark black with abundant creamy light brown head. Malty, caramel flavours. With a bit of a bitter finish. Always a pleasure to have.

A very deep black color with a dark tan head. Hints of coffee, chocolate and a smokey malt. The taste has a strong hop, but not too hoppy. The finish is smoth and enjoyable.

Dark brown almost black pour with foamy off-white head. Weak aroma with roasted malt but a much better flavor than the canned version.

Had two 12 ounce bottles with dinner. Not a bad beer, but this is my least favorite style of stout or porter. Slight coffee taste and a bitter finish. Not much going on here really. None of the nice strong roasted flavors that you taste in a Samual Smith’s Oatmeal Stout, for example.
