Commercial Description:
Labatt's brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company. Editor's Note: It looks like Moosehead is also brewing Guinness. Bottles in the US are from there of late, but Canadian bottles are still showing Labatt. 04/23/06

Very similar to the draught in flavor and style, but lacks the unique creamy smoothness that its cousin has. Rich roasted malt, oatmeal, and coffee. Non-dememo aroma. Somewhat bland. Decent enough brew, just not as complex as some of the other stout offerrings out there.

Bottle. I am guessing this is the version we see here in the states. There seem to be a ton of different brewers. Opaque pour with just a bit of light creeping through at the edges, huge tan head. Rich dark stout with a roasty, toffee bitterness. Excellent body. With all of the other stouts I’ve tried lately, it’s always good to come back to the first. And the amazing thing to me is that for a mass-marketed beer, it still holds its own against the great premium craft stouts out there.

Huge foam and roasty aroma; black ale with a nice hop and smooth feel, but there is a slight metallic taste; slightly bitter finish

Dark brown with a creamy off white head. Faint roasty aroma and equally faint taste. Watery palate. Not a very satisfying stout.

DArk pour with a medium size head. Fairly weak roasted malt aroma and taste. Thin body. A little expensive for what it is.

This appears to be a great beer, it smells and pours excellent, like regular guinness. However the palate ends abruptly and is lacking in a full finish.

Draft. Guinness is overrated, but it has grown on me a bit since the first few times I’ve had it. It actually has a really watery palate with notes of roast and coffee.
