| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 25, 2009 Black color...opaque. Pretty thick, fluffy head, with great lacing. Slightly bitter malt aroma. Very heavy roasted malt flavor up front...mouthfeel is only a tad crisp, with good body. Bitter maltiness overwhelms the back. Finish is long, and filled with the flavor of dry, roasted malt. Much different than a typical dry stout...this brew consists of a uniquely strong bitterness, as well as an overly robust flavor of roasted malt. milljam (569), Norman, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 24, 2009 Very confusing...multiple breweries brewing the same terrible beer. Again with the mouthfeel. Again with the flavor (blah). Aroma is weak. I realize this is a dry stout and as such will not have the profile of the more prevalent Imp stouts, but I’ve had better dry stouts. osb33 (16), Milwaukee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2009 When I think of a dark beer, Guinness Extra Stout is what comes to mind. Dark color and a mystical but bitter taste. However, those qualities are to be expected from a stout. Will drink again and can only imagine drinking this in Ireland amongst the Irish. A good, but not perfect, beer. JediMindTricks (240), Hampton, Virginia, USA

Flavour is sweet, roasted, coffee, hop, malt. Medium body...it is what it is... kiefdog (1588), Tampa, Florida, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 24, 2009 Strong aroma of roasted malts, and slightly alcoholic on the nose.Black as the night, almost no head. Flavour is very strong and bitter. Roasted malts dominate the palate. Not as thick or as smooth as guinness. All in all I prefer the original. scottw86 (182), Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 16, 2009 Slightly sweet aroma of chocolate malts and a tiny bit of coffee. Taste is very similar to Guinness Draught, but it is a little bit stronger and more bitter. Tastes more like a stout. Overall I prefer the Draught because it is smoother, and it is more unique. This extra stout has to compete with all other stouts, so it doesn’t seem as good by comparison.
