Commercial Description:
The basis is an unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract shipped from Dublin, which is added to local ingredients and brewed locally. The abv may vary.

There is also another Guinness FES at 6.5% alcohol, brewed in Kenya, by Kenyan Breweries Ltd.

Editor's Note: Not sure at what point this went from 7.5% (the standard FES) to 6.5%. This entry is for Jamaican and the Kenyan FES' only - we don't know of any others at 6.5% but if you see one let us know.

This is a dark brown with a decent head. A bit on the grainy side and a touch of tartness underneath the roasty malt.

Got it for quite low price. It has this roasted grains flavour and sweetness that defines Foreign’s, but it has this sour flaour that is not so strong in the other three versions I have had.

Bottle (Kenya) purchased at a grocery store in Nairobi Kenya. Malty chocolate flavors, grainy texture with a dry bitter finish. Mild coffee flavors with a roasted character.

Bottle - from Craven’s shop, Montego Bay via friend - Pours dark brown/black with creamy tan head. Notes of sweet malted grain, roasted nuts, coffee. Flavors of spice, coffee, caramel, chocolate, roasted nuts, tree bark, molasses, with bitter finish of hops. Medium body. Nice brew with steak and baked potato.

Thanks to my parents for taking two bottles ofthis home for me from a recent island hopping vacation. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Smells of coffee, chocolate, toffee, caramel, hints of pepper. Tastes very roasty with some dark fruity hints and a spicy burnt finish. Very different from the 7.5% FES.

Jamaica versian via trade from Georgia - Thanks Goldtwins! - Pours black witha fair tan head that stays a bit and laces some. Aromas of roasted and burnt malts and a touch of coffee. Flavor is roasted malts, some coffee, a touch of molasses, and a little caramel. Finish is slight bitterness. Quite different from the Guinness here in the states though. Medium body but a touch on the watery side..Not bad..

Kenyan version, 300 ml bottle. Dark black beer with a thick dark brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roast, and a very tart fresh green herbal character. Very roasty aroma with some vegetal off-notes, especially as it starts to warm up. The sour aroma is also there serving as a counterpoint to the chocolate and roast. However, the vegetal aspect of this just doesn’t work. The off-notes remind me of the North American brewed version of Guinness Extra Stout. Not terribly malty or complex. Moderate bitterness and light acidity on the finish. A bit of a disappointment, really.

Thanks Suttree for this one. A dark brown pour but far from black. An aroma of taosted malt and chooclate. A musty off flavor appears shortly after the drink. A chocolate flavor with a hint of alcohol at the end. A slightly weak palate. A bitter finish that really bites you hard on the back and sides of your tongue. Not very fond of it but glad I got to try it.
