Maverick34 (508), New York, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottled in Malaysia. Pours back, smallish head, incredibly sweet and some surprising character, almost an imperial stout to me.
JonR888710 (1000), Cochabamba, Bolivia May 28, 2008 Pitch black-mahogany, as dark as it gets. Head is mocha ice cream colored, with pocked bubbles, looks nothing like a Guinness. Odd fragrance, chocolate, wet dog, beef stock, mild tobacco, cider spices and a quirky acidity. Taste is strong and rich, like a smoked red wine, even oaky. Tremendously unique. Sweet and tart dark grape juicy, burnt hickory, dry ending, charred and sweet. Theis (2495), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 29, 2007 Can (320 ml) at Ryan’s Pub. We just found out that the Khmer restaurant we were looking for is closed, so now we are having a guinness and are looking in Lonely Planet for another place. Black as the night - brown head as the Khmer munks. Aroma: alcohol, light roasted, coffee, english licorice. Taste: Coffee, english licorice, too much alcohol taste, sweetness, burned, oatmeal ??? asedzie (414), San Francisco, California, USA Dec 29, 2006 Bottle. 330 ml. Bought in Taiwan, but the brewery name and address (in Malaysia) matches this beer’s label. However, the abv is much lower, at 5.0%.
Generous lasting, brown head, wonderfully dense, almost like a root beer float. Beer itself is pitch black in the glass. Aroma is rich coffee, cane sugar, slightly acidic. Mouthfeel is thick. Flavors here are coffee and smokiness. Quite sour aftertaste, a nice contrast to the initial full, roasted flavors. Very unique and very special, begs to be savoured like a good cup of coffee.

Body is black with a slowly diminishing, craggy, mocha colored head.

Smells of mild chocolate and old coffee.

Fairly smoky tasting fore is accented by tobacco, dried cherries and chicory coffee.

Mouthfeel is about average for Guinness’ stouts, but that smoky flavor is unique to this brew. It gets almost spicy int he finish. Different, but not something I personaly like.
