6/2/08 From the bottle. Aroma is roast malt forward, alcoholic, with a bit of dried fruit character. The creaminess of Guiness Pub draught is still there, just much lighter and sweeter. Appearance is very dark brown with a well maintained tan head. Flavor is sweet, roasted, carbonic, sour and fruity. There’s a lot going on here. Mouthfeel is medium/full bodied with a medium carb and grain texture. Overall, an interesting brew with lots of flavor and strength.

Bottle thanks to Doppelganger. Pours a pure black body with an amazing beige head. It sits atop the beer floating and towering like a mountain. The aroma is mostly rich roasted malts, some hops and metallic notes. The taste is very complex; the initial pour is quite bitter and full of roasted notes, the finish is sweet fruit and finally more bitter burnt coffee. As it warms there is more of a metallic and woody flavor, with berries and liquorice, and always roasted malt. Very good, so complex and so damn tasty. A great mouthfeel and a nice alcohol warmth. As it warms it gets a lot sweeter. My quest for Guinness continues. Thanks Casey.

Great Guinness, so much better then local draft...find off license in Ireland selling this...my lucky day :-) Pours completely black, little lasting head, major notes of liquirisel, ,inior notes of coffee, chocolate, and burned malt. Sweet and bitter in perfect harmoney, bitterness winning in the end.

Liked this more than I thought I would. Near black with a tan head. Creamy sweet malt aroma, almost like condensed milk, with just an edge of meatiness. Warm, malty, milky chocolate taste - yes, almost malted milk. Some slight fruity sourness too. Mid bitter finish. Odd, but I’m glad I tried it.

Haha. American Guinness sucks. This pour was thick dark black with a full tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malt and chocolate. Full body with strong flavors of roasted malt, cocoa, slight coffee, and a slight bitter finish. Very good. Would buy again.

Dublin brewery.Yes, this is much better than the draught style, much more character. I poured this one a little on the cold side, so I am having a hard time with the aroma- after swirling a bit I am getting some creosote, faint hop background, malt wort. Taste is bitter and dry, strong roasty presence, a bit like old coffee grounds. Finishes out with some astringency. Pretty good for such a commercial beer, just crosses over into the territory of beers I will drink with regularity. *addendum- after closely inspecting the bottle, I found that this was actually brewed in Canada, in spite of the Dublin , Ireland claim in larger print.

Bottle shared with Josh: Pours a silky black with thin white head. Aromas of sweet chocolate, cream, and oak. Taste is of strong chocolate, cream and that classic "Guinness" flavor. Finish is dy with that same "Guinness" flavor. Thanks Josh.
