| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 21, 2007 Roasted malt and molasses aroma. Black color, thick tan head, good lacing. Coffee, bitter grass, and sour cherry flavors, which don’t go so well together. Smoky finish. I like my stouts sweeter, but this is a classic. footy (334), scottsdale, Arizona, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 1, 2007 Straight black pour with the lightest ruby reflects. Fat, lasting tan head of irregular shaped bubbles. A rather complex fruitiness develops in the aroma which hints at blackberries and black cherries along the usual coffee and liquorice suspects. On the tongue, liquorice grows to take more room, making the fruits more subtle and the whole thing less juicy than expected whereas soft coffee roastiness comes along for the finish. A rather solid offering, perhaps feeling a bit fatty and certainly very sweet as its bitterness comes only from the malts apparently. The constant alcohol presence is also not something I dig particularly.
