Commercial Description:
Higher in alcohol content than other Guinness products, this stout has a strong, oaky, complex flavor.

Editor’s Note: This is the standard FES. Sometimes it is imported from Ireland but more often it is brewed locally. This version is most common in the Caribbean and Africa. All versions from those places, save for Jamaica, Nigeria and Ghana should be rated here.

Thick, dense, heavy head. Almost tarry. Dark roasted flavors. Quite rich. Good stuff.

Roasted malt and molasses aroma. Black color, thick tan head, good lacing. Coffee, bitter grass, and sour cherry flavors, which don’t go so well together. Smoky finish. I like my stouts sweeter, but this is a classic.

Sampled at Lucaya, Grand Bahama Island. Strong roasted flavor, but much winier and stronger than expected. I tasted raisend and a roasted flavor, which I really enjoyed. The 7.5% abv made a relaxing nite-cap.

12oz bottle from at the Nassau airport... wow what a surprise. this was actually brewed in NASSAU!! good start and then the aftertaste was horrible. left a very heavy iron taste in your mouth. Was very disappointed that this was called a Guinness.

Bottle from ASDA. Opaque black with a decent tan head. Powerful roasty aroma with a touch of sweetness. Flavours of coffee, charcoal with a long, bitter finish and some warming alcohol. Very good.

Pours black with tan, tight frothy head. Aromas of coffee, malt, and caramel. Tastes of roasted malt, coffee, some chocolate and hops with a slightly bitter finish. Very rich smooth palate. One of my favorite stouts from Guinness.

Straight black pour with the lightest ruby reflects. Fat, lasting tan head of irregular shaped bubbles. A rather complex fruitiness develops in the aroma which hints at blackberries and black cherries along the usual coffee and liquorice suspects. On the tongue, liquorice grows to take more room, making the fruits more subtle and the whole thing less juicy than expected whereas soft coffee roastiness comes along for the finish. A rather solid offering, perhaps feeling a bit fatty and certainly very sweet as its bitterness comes only from the malts apparently. The constant alcohol presence is also not something I dig particularly.
