Aromas of coffee, malt, and caramel. Tastes of roasted malt, coffee, some chocolate and hops with a slightly bitter finish. Very rich smooth palate. One of my favorite stouts from Guinness. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 1, 2007 Straight black pour with the lightest ruby reflects. Fat, lasting tan head of irregular shaped bubbles. A rather complex fruitiness develops in the aroma which hints at blackberries and black cherries along the usual coffee and liquorice suspects. On the tongue, liquorice grows to take more room, making the fruits more subtle and the whole thing less juicy than expected whereas soft coffee roastiness comes along for the finish. A rather solid offering, perhaps feeling a bit fatty and certainly very sweet as its bitterness comes only from the malts apparently. The constant alcohol presence is also not something I dig particularly. dwyerpg (2553), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Flavor is dry and hoppy and bitter but also has a light sourness to it as well, shich isn’t good. Still, pretty good stuff. ChrisThomson (406), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

The low carbonation and roasted barley make this quite pleasant to drink in a warm climate. Oak and coffee round out this "extra" nice stout. petermadsen (390), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark

Quite a bit more interesting than the average guinness RSRIZZO (1369), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 26, 2007 Had this beer on 4/7/2007. Aroma is a mild toasted scent with very faint tones of hops. Color is a deep black with a good head that goes loose on the edge but seems tight in the center. Taste is crisp and bitter. Starting with medium body it goes down with a crisp feel that is a bit sharp on the sides of your tongue. Finish comes on with a mild roasted malt flavor that turns to a full bitterness that is backed by more toasted and burnt flavors. Its just not a very good stout. This is just a weak Stout. boFNjackson (1323), Portland, Oregon, USA
