Nice bitter flavour with good coffee tastes. Fully bittered aftertaste-very good to try! Overall, a nice example of a foreign stout and I’m very grateful to try this beer. Many thanks to Tim for picking this up down in the caribbean! I sampled this 330 mL bottle on 15-May-2004 at the May RB Party in Toronto, Onatrio. Crosling (1855), Loveland, Colorado, USA

Dark Brown.
Slightly astringent, burnt grain, molasses, chocolate, coffee, brown sugar and prunes in the nose.
Traditional dry stout characteristics throughout, just much bigger with notes of raisins, alcohol, chocolate, cocoa and prunes. Full bodied.
Wow, Guinness can make a good beer. What a surprise.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 1, 2004 Like Guinness on steroids - all souped up and ready to please. and please she does - there is extra roastiness and warmth and the body has the mouthfeel that most people are afraid that regular Guinness has - nice and chewy. Features the standard stout characteristics but then I thought perhaps some licorice too. Also makes you stand up and take notice with some bitterness as it goes. Nice. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 19, 2004 Contrary to jimmack04, I feel carbonation is much less assertive. Definitely has tan head. Bitter aftertase, makes you want to come back for more. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 19, 2004 Black with a small tan head. Dark roasted malt aroma. Flavor is quite different than the draught style. First
of all the carbonation is much more
assertive. You can also taste the
difference in the alcohol content. The
roasted malt flavor was also much more intense. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 2, 2004 Butter and dark fruits (plums and red grapes mostly). Deep black with an off-white head. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becoms a lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter finish. Medium-full body, watery/creamy texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: a strange fruitiness and slightly thinner than I expected, but still good.
