Black pour with a fair light brown head. Soft roasted malts mix with chocolate and light coffee notes. Smooth and creamy with a well rounded body and some bitterness in the finish. Not as good as the Belgian version but still pretty tasty. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 21, 2008 This was refreshing after a previous sub par stout I had. A complex blackcurrant and liquorice aroma blends with those lovely burnt roast aromas. follows through into an oily mouth feel thats full of flavour and enough hops to round it out. cracking stuff. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 13, 2008 Pours black with a small creamy light tan head. Smells a little fruity, with a good amount of roast and dark malt, and a distinct toffee aroma as well. The mouthfeel wasnt as thick as I thought it would be. The burnt malt and roast flavors were abundant with hints of dark chocolate coming through at the end. A touch of some hops comes through but not in abundance. Just decent, maybe could have used a bit more body. dunkpigen (328), Kolding, Denmark

Dark brown color with a dark bone colored head. Great lace. Aromas of rye and pumpernickel. Scents of treacle and mild oak. Hints of sour mash. Flavors match aromas. Nice stuff. Nice complexity. What I remember Guinness being years ago. GMUcrew7 (376), Mason, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 7, 2008 Bottle in St Thomas. Pours jet black with a full tan head. Wonderful oak/vanilla aromas with some roasted coffee. Delicious complex flavor headlined by the powerful oak and vanilla, also has a bit of coffee to round out the roasted sweet flavor. Has a medium body, and a burnt woody finish. Wonderful beer, superior to the version found back home.
