ElGaucho (1721), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Mar 26, 2008 Bottle aboard Celebrity Galaxy cruisliner originating in Civitavecchia, Italy. Sweet, malty stouty aroma. Very nice. Sweeter and richer in the nose than regular Guinness. Dark, large, rootbeer float-like head. Quite different than the cascading, tight bubble appearance of regular Guinness. Excellent lace. Molasses and higher alcohol. Definitely sweeter than regular Guinness. Pretty good. A little dry, but the best beer on board the ship.
GMUcrew7 (204), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottle in St Thomas. Pours jet black with a full tan head. Wonderful oak/vanilla aromas with some roasted coffee. Delicious complex flavor headlined by the powerful oak and vanilla, also has a bit of coffee to round out the roasted sweet flavor. Has a medium body, and a burnt woody finish. Wonderful beer, superior to the version found back home. alexsdad06 (664), Ohio, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Poured a dark brown color with a small/medium beige head. The aroma showed hints of dark fruits, roasted malt, and a light burnt note. Overall, a little light for a stout. The flavor is much of the same and also a little light for a stout. Dark fruit, slight roast, and light bitterness in the finish. There was also a sour note. Could this have been a little old? Anyway, I’m glad I got to try this one once. As_a_Newt (73), blackpool, Lancashire, England Sep 26, 2008 nose is coffee, colour is dark with an off white head. Flavour is rich and smooth with a nice pronounced finish. Damn fine brew KyotoLefty (202), Kyoto, Japan Sep 25, 2008 Thick and rich, malty and bitter. Full of flavor, always reliable. It is sweet, with cream, chocolate, and a bit of fruit; balanced by bitter burnt barley, coffee, soy sauce too. Great and reliable. BeerFanDan17 (397), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Sep 22, 2008 A very tasty variety of the classic Guiness stout. Hard to come by, but tasty. Bitter and flavorful!
