Sep 15, 2007 <i>On tap at the brewery.</i> Black color with a large head. Light aroma of a flowery English hop. The taste and body is very similar to regular Guinness with a slightly sweet almost sour malt base and a bit of bitterness, but North Star seems to have a bit of the coffee and chocolate character that is common with many microbrew stout. Not vastly superior to regular Guinness, but a little step up in my opinion.

Oct 30, 2006 Very round and smooth, with most traces of roasted malt viped out. Not unpleasant, but rater boring.

Jun 26, 2007 Draft, Quality Inn, Cork City, IRE. Roasty aroma, light chocolate notes. Taste is much like the regular Guinness, but didn’t have the mettalic aspec to it, wasn’t bad at all.

Jan 20, 2008 On tap at Temple Bar. I somehow missed entering this rating from my trip to Ireland Pours opaque black with a large tan head, much like the black stuff. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, pine and coffee. Taste is similar to the original, but may be a little smoother? Difficult to tell without a a side-by side rating.
