Roast malt aroma. Flavor is roast malt with some coffee; maybe a bit fuller bodied than regular Guinness. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA

Taste is much like the regular Guinness, but didn’t have the mettalic aspec to it, wasn’t bad at all. rustychiles (1058), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Pours a nice deep black with a nice nitro brown head just like any other Guinness does. Aroma of Guinness, but with a little more sweetness. Flavor is much the same........the bitterness in Guinness has been balanced out with more malt sweetness. I like it better than original guinness for sure. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 15, 2007 On tap at the brewery. Black color with a large head. Light aroma of a flowery English hop. The taste and body is very similar to regular Guinness with a slightly sweet almost sour malt base and a bit of bitterness, but North Star seems to have a bit of the coffee and chocolate character that is common with many microbrew stout. Not vastly superior to regular Guinness, but a little step up in my opinion. mike1977ok (648), Netherlands

Has a fruitier aroma than regular Guinness but still maintains a lot of roasted malt. Quite clean and thin feeling on the pallet, not very bitter at all. Slight liquorice on the end. Good for a session. mansquito (839), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 29, 2007 Now, this beer is advertised everywhere in Ireland, but nobody sells it. Not even the places that have special cups made in its honor sell this beer!
Anyway, really nice and thick off white head. Dark, ruby brown color. Smells really nice, but I can’t quite pinpoint it. Not much coffee or chocolate in the taste, but there are defiantely roasted malts. Some bread in the flavour, which I find to be a bit abnormal for a stout. Not bitter or watery at all like the normal Guinness. Slightly, but only ever so slightly, sweet. littlecarp (128), Redding, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 3, 2007 Excellent pour, perfect dark with light beige head. Initial flavor is savory, chocolate. Finish is coffee with a bit of sourness to it. Aroma is a bit weak. Heavy chocolate taste at the end of the pint. Not at all what I expected.
