This was the novelty beer of the night - how would this small can hold up after so long? The answer: surprisingly good! Dark black with lots more red than you see pout of our draught version. Thick brown head (who needs nitro, this looks great!). Strong roasted aroma - nice! Decent roasted coffee taste. Lots of burnt note. Extremely dry. Still a tad mild and watery, but this showed no sign of age which is remarkable - shows you where Guinness came from and what it has become. Burnt oats in the finish, but foregrounded nicely by some fruit and a very sparkly malt gig. Obviously much more liquidy than the nitro version, with a smaller, but browner head. Better than the aforementioned druaght version, with additional refreshment value. leungie (19), Sydney, Australia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 16, 2004 looks less impressive... but who cares, the hoppy, caramel and more intense flavor and thicker texture beats Guinness draught anyday Spiesy (2333), Global Citizen, Greater London, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 23, 2004 Bottled. Black stout colour with a beige head. Deeper in colour then your average cask stout but more like a regularly cask stout in its flavour and text then any draught Guinness would be. Not as silky as your normal Guinness but dry and flavoursome to be sure. rgrep (150), Wellington, New Zealand

Roasted malt aroma, with floral hop notes. The body is slightly sweet, and a bit salty, but lacks the watery texture of Guinness Original. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England
