The head is simply amazing; thick and foamy without all that nitro they use on tap. The aroma is mostly a deep roasted malt. The taste has many of Guinness’s signature elements; a dry roasted malt that hints at both fruit and a bitterness. But, it also has a warm caramel sweetness and a alcohol aspect that is great. The mouthfeel is also great; a fizzy warmness that is missing from other versions. Overall, just great. Thanks Brad. AxlLives (11), Maryland, USA

Bottle. [Great two day tasting session @ Papsoe] Average beige creamy head that mostly lasted. Dark mahogany color. Fair display of lacework. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, light alcoholic sniff, toasted malt. Over the palate burned malt, bitter coffee, hint of dried fruit. Quit full bodied with a soft carbonation and light dry texture. Moderated bitter and sweet flavor. Bitter coffee and dark chocolate finish.

Pours a clear, dark brown with a tint of red and a creamy, beige head. Light tartness from the burned malt in the aroma. Quite full-bodied, fruity, vinous with very burned - almost coffeeish - malt accents and a distinct, malt bitter finish. 120108 yespr (12407), Copenhagen O, Denmark

Slight butterish aroma, light roasted. Flavour is smooth roasted malt flavour. Slight butterish again. Has a decent bitterness towards the finish. Ends bitter and with a mild roasted note. Nice and dry roasted. jgb9348 (2515), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 12, 2008 Deep brown coloured body (about 80% opaque) with a super large tan head and ruby highlights when held up to the light - this is the way a non-draught version of the beer should look like! Aroma of roasted malt, roasted rice, caramel, toffee, hazlenuts, peanuts and even a bit of milk chocolate. Full-bodied; Super strong roasted malt flavours with chocolate and coffee most noticeable. Some bittering caramel comes through at the very end - but mostly malty flavours dominate, coupled with some nuts. Aftertaste shows some really bitter metal and nuts with the obligatory yeast, malt and coffee tastes. Overall, a good special version of the beer - not amazing (like Singapore), but still not as bad (as say China). I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from a small corner store in Bruxelles, Belgium on 01-January-2008. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA
